I heard there was a new kid in town producing his own style of art. I knew I had to meet him. Nic has the talent to freehand customised graphite on denim to your liking. I on the other hand had the pleasure of photographing the enthralling moments of a creative at work. Even better I got to capture the man in his element as he was customising my own logo on my Levis jacket. There is nothing more stimulating than meeting creative and passionate individuals like Nic. They say surround yourself with like minded people.
"I'm just a guy who loves menswear and street wear. My passion for 'looking fresh' has always stuck with me. I grew up listening to hip hop and playing a lot of basketball. I fell in love with this culture instantly and it slowly progressed to street wear. After a good few years, the mentality stuck with me and this gradually translated into menswear as well. I wanted to share this "feeling" and lifestyle with everyone. As cliche as it sounds, when you look good, you feel good.
This lifestyle is just another way to share my personality to the world and a reminder for people to say "screw the norm" I will do things my way. My style is very chilled. I love versatility in my wardrobe. The way I dress and put things together really come down to climate and how I feel when I wake up. I love having that disorganised yet effortless look where I know if I chuck on a outfit it's right for the occasion, no matter if it's for business or pleasure. "
"The Refined Aesthetic was created to provide an outlet for my creative energies. I look to capture the modern man's lifestyle and influence my readers to take a more holistic view of society and dressing. I began the website approximately 6 months ago directly influenced by the experience I had received working inside the fashion industry. Now as my business and personal horizons have broadened I The Refined Aesthetic is a way to create and inspire an audience I would not normally reach with my day to day work.
I try not to pigeon hole myself into one category.I have to ability to transcend trends from the deepest corners of street wear and menswear. I also look to womenswear for trends that can be easily adapted for maximum impact. I draw a lot of inspiration from the work of Tom Ford but also street sartorialists from New York, Toyko and Italy. Again a knowledge and passion of womenswear helps my to generate fresh and new ideas which ultimately flow into the content that is seen on The Refined Aesthetic."
